We are currently recruiting for an Accountant to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Colchester. With over 20 years of success and 90% of new clients coming via recommendation, the firm has built a strong reputation for client service and staff wellbeing. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to expand their skills in a supportive and friendly team environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare statutory accounts for final review.

Produce annual accounts for sole traders, landlords, and partnerships.

Draft personal and corporate tax returns.

Prepare and submit VAT returns to HMRC.

Review the work of junior staff and support their training.

Handle client queries and build lasting relationships.

Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.

Undertake various ad-hoc tasks as required.
What Experience is Required:
-
Proven experience in an accountancy practice.

AAT qualified, CIMA/ACCA part-qualified, or qualified by experience.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficiency in accountancy software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

High level of attention to detail and initiative.

Location:
The role is based in Colchester (3 days in the office minimum). Easily commutable locations include Ipswich, Chelmsford, Braintree, and surrounding areas.
