CV Screen is delighted to be recruiting a Head of Finance on behalf of a well-established education organisation in Galashiels. This senior, office-based role pays up to £61,575 and reports directly to the executive lead for finance. You will head up both the finance and procurement functions. Our client delivers learning and training to people and employers across the Scottish Borders. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to shape financial strategy, strengthen controls and act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership and the board.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the finance team, driving efficiency and continuous improvement
• Own the annual budgets, monthly management accounts, forecasts and year-end statutory accounts, and act as the key contact for external audit
• Prepare funding body, VAT and other external returns, alongside board and committee papers
• Develop financial regulations and controls, and oversee the procurement function
• Partner with budget holders, build financial models and support major capital projects

What Experience is Required

• A qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience
• A proven record of leading a customer-focused finance function in a medium to large organisation, including budgets, forecasts and statutory reporting
• Strong knowledge of governance and risk management. Experience in public sector, VAT or education finance is an advantage

This is an office-based role in Galashiels. It is within easy commuting distance of Melrose, Selkirk, Hawick, Kelso, Peebles, Jedburgh and Lauder.
